When asked to help supply hoopers and hoop companies with information regarding sponsorships, they were happy to help.
How to find sponsorship opportunities...
Most often, when a hoop company is ready for new sponsees, they will advertise a sponsorship contest. This consists of a detailed email, answering any questions the company might have, a video showing off your flow, and a deadline for entries to be placed.
These contests are usually on Facebook, and/or, Instagram. Very often, these contests are advertised in hoop groups on Facebook. I would also like to add, I think it is very important, when you feel you are ready to be a sponsored hooper, that you believe in the company you apply for. Sponsorships include getting free hoops, but that is not what it is all about. Sponsorships are about growing and supporting each other, and helping each other succeed. Everything else is just icing on the cake!
How to apply for sponsorships...
It is important, when applying for a hoop sponsorship, that you explain why you would like to be sponsored by that company, and what you could bring to the table. You want to give some background on your hoop journey, and express what hooping has done for you in your life. Lastly, a video of you flowing with your hoop(s)!!! Hoop companies want to see you in your element, and see your self expression. Have fun, be confident, believe in yourself, and know that everyone is on their own hoop path. No two flows are the same. There is no "better" or "worse" hooper.
Know that companies decide who to sponsor by what they believe is best for their company. If it just so happens you aren't chosen, its important to keep your head held high, and know that other beautiful things are meant for you!
If you happen to be selected as a sponsee, then pat yourself on the back, and get ready for an awesome journey!!!
How to find flow artists to represent your brand...
A very effective way to find the right flow artists to represent your company, is hosting a sponsorship contest. Typically, the company hosting the contest would ask all entries to include a detailed email, answering any questions they might have, a video of the person flowing with their prop, and that all entries be placed by a certain day/time. It is important when hosting a contest to advertise in all social media. This can include Facebook, flow groups, Instagram, etc. This way, you will get entries from as many flow artists as possible, and are likely to find some amazing talents! Sponsorship contests are also a great way to get your company name out in the community. Once the contest is over, and you have chosen a winner, or winners, the new representative(s) of your company receives store credit, or a free flow prop. This allows them to advertise, using your product, which in turn earns you more business!
If you aren't too keen on hosting a contest, you may like to, personally, reach out to flow artists who you feel would be great to represent your company by emailing or messaging them.
It is important to work out a reward system for the flow artists representing your company. Sponsorship programs usually supply flow props, rather than paying their representatives, so sponsees expect guidelines on how you would like to be represented, and how they get rewarded.
An example for a reward system would be, sponsees earn points by advertising/promoting for your company, and points can be turned in for products from your store.
Typically, sponsees receive a personal discount code for your store, which they can give out to potential customers. When someone uses their code at checkout in your store, then you know they are being successful with promoting your company!
Sponsorship programs should focus on growing together, between company and sponsees. You become a team. Its a big commitment choosing representatives for your company, so don't rush things. The right connections will always be made with good intent.
What to do after receiving a sponsorship...
So, you've been chosen to be a sponsored flow artist! Do a little dance, pat yourself on the back, and familiarize yourself with your sponsor's shop. It is important, as a sponsee, that you know the products you are representing. Often, you may get questions from potential customers, and your sponsor will be very happy with your help in answering them. Your sponsor will more than likely give you guidelines, which you are expected to follow, as a representative of their company.
Be sure to stay active on Instagram, Facebook, and other social medias, promoting the company you represent. This can include, hash tags commonly used by the company, photos/videos of you using their products, and promoting the company in Facebook flow groups when you find people seeking new flow props.
Most of all, HAVE FUN!!!
